...or more like Body Pulp! After many weeks away from the gym due to travel and other lame excuses for not going, my weight training class absolutely crushed me today. You know that great feeling you usually get after a good workout? The positive outlook and the good sort of pain? Well, I didn't get that feeling today. Just felt pummeled. Absolutely destroyed.
I've been on sabbatical from work for a few months now and it still surprises me how crowded the fitness classes are during the day. As crowded as the evening ones that I used to attend. These people aren't students or seniors or all yummy mummies either. Are these people out of work? Are they night clubbers who have free time during the day? Are they entrepreneurs who control their own schedules? Hey, has everyone decided to go on sabbatical? The class is an hour long and add the time to get ready and change plus getting to and fro, it's quite a big chunk out of your day.
In the recent past, I do remember taking time off during the work day to hit the gym for an occasional aerobics class or squash match. It was about two hours or more out of the normal work day. Because I typically worked long hours anyway, the break in the middle gave me the boost of energy I needed to be more productive in the second part of my work day. I also ate better foods as a result. I was certainly healthier then...both physically and mentally.
I need to find a way to incorporate this balance back into my life. And when I'm back to work, it will be the new me.
n.b. There was a SUPER cute guy in the class today among a room full of 20 women. Guys crack me up because they put on so much weight on their bars that they cannot complete all the repetitions. And they struggle with the abs stuff...anyway I give him credit for joining the class. And looking out for him gives me the incentive to go back!
